The 25-year-old has decided to quit Australia despite being offered a two-year deal by the franchise still hoping to enter the A-League next season.

Lynch said his goodbyes to the Roar squad and staff yesterday and is now looking to pursue other options with at least several offers on the table from clubs back in Scotland.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com: “I spoke to Miron Bleiberg and there was a two-year deal from the Gold Coast Galaxy there.

"It was very flattering and I had to think long and hard about it. In the end though, I’m still only 25 and there are other options out there.

"That’s not to say I wouldn’t look at coming back to Australia. I’ve had two great years and the chance to experience life in a wonderful country.

“I think Miron understands my reasons for the decision. As I said, it was hard to say no. Miron was the man who brought me to the Roar and I loved playing for him. I’m sure I’d have loved playing for him at the Gold Coast as well.”

After a blistering start in Roar colours, Lynch struggled to earn a regular spot, especially following Bleiberg’s exit and the appointment of Frank Farina as coach.

He managed just five goals in two seasons for the club and made just six starts this year. He insists there is no bitterness on his part though as he packs his bags.

Lynch said: “It was disappointing to be on the bench so much last season but I’m proud of the way I dealt with the situation.

"I didn’t let my head drop and I tried to remain positive. I look at it and say that I played my part in helping the team reach its first finals series.”

The striker admits he will miss running out at Suncorp and will always treasure his memories of playing there.

He said: “The highlight would have to be my debut. I scored the first in a 3-0 win and that was the first game of the season at Suncorp.”

As for the team he leaves behind Lynch is confident they can build on last season’s near miss.

He said: “There is the spine of a very good team still.

"I’m sure he (Farina) will bring in the right players and they can work well with the likes of Massimo Murdocca and Matt McKay. They’ve got bags of A-League experience now and that can only help the lads push on.”
