Akira Nishino's side moved a point clear of Nagoya Grampus Eight at the summit after their demolition of the former champions at Expo 70 Memorial Stadium, with Brazilian Bare giving Gamba the lead after just eight minutes.

Defender Sidiclei doubled Gamba's lead seven minutes later before Bare, a close-season signing from Ventforet Kofu, scored again in the 24th minute with a superb header.

Jubilo fought back in the second half thanks to the introduction of Shinji Murai, the former JEF United Chiba man beating goalkeeper Yosuke Fujigaya with a header 20 minutes from time before reducing the deficit to a single goal in the 79th minute with a mid-range strike.

However, Gamba ended any hopes Jubilo had of a comeback when Hideo Hashimoto blasted home eight minutes from time and, with two minutes left on the clock, Michihiro Yasuda put the result beyond any doubt with a left-footed effort.

"We showed our style of football today," said Nishino.

"Our players played well with good focus on the game. But we shouldn't have given away two goals and that's something we've got to fix."

Meanwhile, Yokohama F. Marinos secured an impressive 5-0 win over Oita Trinita at Nissan Stadium.

Yukihiro Yamase opened the scoring in the 12th minute and forward Daisuke Sakata struck twice, in the 42nd minute and the 55th minute, to give his team a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Ryuji Kawai then made it 4-0 four minutes later and midfielder Koji Yamase, brother of Yukihiro, completed the scoring just before the final whistle.
