Saturday night's defeat to Victory leaves Glory stuck in bottom of the table, eight points outside the top six with nine games to play.

Realistically Glory's finals hopes are gone after a woeful run of just one win in 16 matches but Neville told FoxSports they can still climb the ladder before the season ends.

"We take each game as it comes and look for maximum points in every game," Neville said.

"If we put in the effort we showed tonight and the past few weeks were things haven't quite gone our way, we'll climb the ladder."

Neville added: "The first-half the boys played really well, but to concede so close to half-time was a big loss for us and then we switched off for the second goal.

"We never stopped fighting and we won't stop fighting. We want to give this league a shake-up and hopefully we can start climbing the ladder."

Melbourne defender Rody Vargas, who scored Victory's second goal in the win, said the team had the belief it could go all the way and win the A-League championship.

Vargas added: "It's the first time this year we've won back-to-back so hopefully it'll continue."

Melbourne's next game is at home to Newcastle Jets on Monday week, while Glory are in action in midweek at home to Adelaide United.
