PERTH Glory this afternoon quashed reports that a deal was done and dusted for Socceroos defender Chris Coyne.
More than one media report suggested that a three-year deal was done and dusted with the defender to join brother Jamie at Members Equity Stadium.
However, the club issued a statement to say such reports were premature. It read: "Perth Glory is aware of media reports claiming Socceroos defender Chris Coyne has accepted a contract to join the club.
"Perth Glory has not received official notification that Coyne has been released from his current contract and as such he remains a Colchester United player."
Coach Dave Mitchell remains hopeful of landing the defender though and at the press conference to preview the club's clash with Wolves said: "I think if he comes back to Australia, he'll come to Perth.
"He does want to come to Perth but he does have to look at the situation, the big picture financially. It's been tight getting him in the salary cap but if he does come, he's taken a significant cut in his wages first year.
"We've put our offer to him and we're just waiting to see."
