DAVE Mitchell believes Glory's weekend victory over Newcastle Jets will provide the kick-start to Perth's A-League campaign.
Having lost their opening two games, new-look Glory finally got their first points on the board with a 2-0 win over Branko Culina's side.
"I think defensively we looked very strong but are probably still lacking a few combinations however the second goal was a great move and I think you can see we're becoming more and more accustomed to playing together and with that the results will come," Mitchell said.
"It has kick started the season and from that point of view it is a relief for all the players and I'm really happy for them because they deserve it."
Adriano Pellegrino grabbed Glory's second goal of the contest and he was delighted.
"We've done reasonably well in the first two games and taken plenty of positives from them and that has paid off," Pellegrino said.
"We're playing a better brand of football each week and we wanted to put in a strong performance at home. We played well here last season and that was important for us to keep that going this season.
"We know it's just one win but we felt like it was coming over the past few weeks. We can take plenty of confidence out of that and look forward to Melbourne coming next week."
Just as pleasing for Mitchell was Glory's doggedness at the back with central pairing Andy Todd and Chris Coyne forming a solid partnership to help Perth to their first clean sheet in 13 A-League matches.
Mitchell added: "It was nice to keep that clean sheet, it was a bit of an achilles heel for us last season and something we have worked to tighten up and that was positive."
