The Glory coach has stated publicly this week he’ll go to the club’s owner and seek a meeting about his future.
Sage has said he’d discuss the situation after 27 rounds. Well, it’s the end of the season so it’s decision time.
This is what some of the fans had to say at nib Stadium.
Steve
They should give him another year. There’s no long-term culture here in the Australian A-League.
Eric
Yes. I’d say two years is fair. The quicker he gets a new contract the quicker they can look at the players’ contracts.
Richard
Yes, he’s turned the team around. He deserves two years.
Tom
Yes, he should be allowed to continue to develop the team. One year is too short, it should be two years so he can plan with some certainty otherwise it’ll be just short-term planning.
“Ballboy”
Absolutely. Who would you get to replace him? One year with one options every time.
Shanagar
One year. We haven’t got a plan B. We’ve brought no young guys through. He’s gotten further than Sage reckoned he’d get so just one year.
Rob
Yes he should. One season. Test him out see how he goes next season. Picked it up this year so give him one more.
Sonia
One year. He’s only proved himself maybe for half this season, not a whole season.
Irene
One season.
Kevin
Yes he should. Maybe one year. One year will show his worth, after the effect he’s had this year, he wasn’t too good at first. But he’s come good and I think he should be given another chance. One year.
Alan
I think he needs to be given one more year to show what he can do. He’s done a reasonable job in his first full year so give him one more chance. And if he doesn’t do something next year, get rid of him.
Kirsty
No. We should be at the top of the league and we’re not.
Darren
I’d say give him another year.
Dwayne
One more season because he’s done pretty well to come back from the situation we were in at the start of the season. Try him out. There’s been a turnaround but let’s see how he goes next season.
David
He should. Give him another one season and let him see how he does.
Warren
Yes, I don’t mind him as a coach. But I do dislike his aggression when he doesn’t like what’s happened. There needs to be more respect out there. I’d give him another year.
Les
Give him another year.
Dragan
He’s done what he’s supposed to have done by the end of the year so he probably deserves an extension considering they’ve made the finals. I’d go season by season. A two-year deal would make him relax. He needs one-year deals to push him.
Tom
Better he stay. I’d give him three years to give him a chance to build a top team. Three years would be okay.
