WESTERN Australian football club Perth Glory are set to assess the ability of fancy 26 year old attacker Nuno Aveiro Jorge Moreira, known mainly as just Nuno Moreira. Moreira was born in Mozambique but has played all his professional football in the lower leagues of Portugal. Currently playing for regional side Clube União Algarve. Nuno has an impressive record wearing the purple and green of União, having scored 145 goals in 211 matches.
Moreira's journey to become a professional player was extremely difficult. The young African left Maputo at the tender age of 16 for a trial with German giants Borussia Dortmund. After being rejected on the first day, the penniless youngster went to live with an uncle in Portugal. Two years later, he was presented with another golden opportunity, a trial with Benfica. He failed once again but went on to become a cult hero in the regional divisions of Southern Portugal. Now the chance to play in the big time in Australia has come along. Can Nuno Moreira finally make the cut? His hopes hinge on Ron Smith's decision to sign him.
