PERTH Glory have added another two players to their squad for next season with West Australian midfielder Josip Magdic to make his return to the Hyundai A-League following a season with Floreat Athena while Naum Sekulovski has extended his stay in Perth for another year.
Magdic, who played four games for the Glory as part of the 2006/07 squad, was one of the key figures in Floreat’s unbeaten run to the Football West Premier League Championship last season.
His performances prompting Glory coach Dave Mitchell to invite the 22 year old on the club’s recent tour of China where, despite rolling an ankle in a training session, he performed admirably.
“Josip is an extremely talented player and it’s a credit to him how he has gone about forcing his way back into the A-League and I’m confident he’ll be a solid contributor for us next season,” Mitchell said.
The midfielder is determined to make the most of his second chance and has set himself to play a more significant role at the club this time around.
“I maintained the belief that I had the ability to play at the top level and I just went about trying to perform consistently in every game I played,” Magdic said.
“I’m really happy to be given another opportunity at the Glory and I’ll be doing everything I can to contribute to getting the club back to the top of the A-League.”
Perth’s squad has been further bolstered with Naum Sekulovski signing a new one year deal. The versatile left footer joined Glory for its inaugural Hyundai A-League campaign and has played 45 games in three seasons.
“Naum has a proven track record and can play a variety of roles for us,” Mitchell said.
“He is a great character to have around the club and I look forward to him playing a big part in a successful season for us,” Mitchell said.
Perth has 14 contracted players for the 2008/09 season and is continuing their recruitment drive with Mitchell currently in Europe scouting for players.
