PERTH Glory are pressing Football Federation Australia for a 'blockbuster' opening fixture as they look to use the Fowler factor to promote the A-League and swell attendances.
Glory are hoping that Fowler's arrival will help boost membership numbers at ME Bank Stadium and also lead to significant increases in those clicking through the turnstiles on match days.
Home games (or lack of) has been something of a sore point with Glory officials over the last two years and the club are hoping that the new campaign will begin at home with an attractive fixture.
"We would expect that they (Football Federation Australia) would look at a blockbuster for the opening game," Glory chief executive Paul Kelly told the Perth Sunday Times. "We've been talking to them. It's not rocket science to promote this league like they should - it's a no-brainer."
Glory revealed yesterday that they are also chasing Nicky Carle.
