Anthony Skorich netted the equaliser for Perth with a powerful header after a stunning 25m strike from Marvin Angulo had given the home side the lead.

In a lively game, both sides attacked at every opportunity and Melbourne had the better of the chances in the first half but Glory keeper Aleks Vrteski made several sharp saves to deny Mate Dugandiz.

Perth midfielder Tommy Amphlett was a constant threat in the first 45 minutes and he came within a whisker of breaking the deadlock just before half time.  Amphlett, whose pace caused Melbourne problems, timed his run to perfection, running onto a wonderful pass from Glen Trifiro only to see his shot hit the post.

Glory coach Gareth Naven switched the team's formation in the second half and the changes worked, as Skorich and Ludovic Boi both forced Glen Moss into fine saves.

But it was Melbourne who hit took the lead when Angulo's long range effort on 49 minutes gave Vrteski no chance.

Perth's response was immediate, and 6 minutes later Skorich found a way past Moss with a clinical header from a Trifiro corner.

Hayden Doyle came off the bench to play his first game since July and the midfielder showed no signs of the knee injury that kept him on the sidelines.

With Perth now set to play Adelaide on Tuesday, Naven was happy with his team's performance in the second half.

"I walked in the change room and they were disappointed which is good, because they want more and they want to learn more.

"A part of their learning process is winning so they are creating their own standard each week," Naven added.
