GOLD Coast United have wielded the axe on injury-plagued striker Milson to let him return home and get a club for the upcoming Brazilian domestic season.
A series of soft tissue injuries hampered Milson's A-League opportunities and with the club deciding that his contract would not be extended into next season, the club today said an early termination was in the best interests of both player and club.
United coach Miron Bleiberg wished the 32-year-old well and thanked him for his contribution during his spell on the Gold Coast.
"Milson is a lovely guy and unfortunately for him he was hindered by a string of injuries during time here," said Bleiberg. "He is a good player and will be remembered for the glorious goal he scored against Fulham in the pre-season.
"He always maintained a positive attitude and was great around the dressing room; we all wish him well in his future endeavours and will stay in touch with him.
"With the emergence of Andrew Barisic and youngster Golgol Mebrahtu we felt that we could accommodate his release which will allow him to find a club in Brazil for the start of their state league."
