The move is yet to be announced but Sportal has learned that 25-year-old Rozic has put pen to paper with Gold Coast and will touch down on the tourist strip in the next fortnight to commence training.

Rozic was released from Polish top-flight side Arka Gdynia at the end of June and United coach Miron Bleiberg sees him as the perfect replacement for hulking stopper Dino Djulbic, who left the club at the end of last season in favour of a move to China.

Although officially a Croatian national, Rozic holds an Australian passport and will not be counted as a visa player. United already have five international players on their books.

Rozic is the son of former Yugoslavian international Vedran Rozic, who spent five years with Sydney Croatia during the 1980s and is considered a legend at the club.

Born in Sydney, Rozic moved to Europe at the age of 10 to join the youth academy of Hajduk Split but found himself out on loan for the majority of his four years there as a senior player.

After spells with HNK Trogir and French Ligue 2 side CS Sedan Ardennes, Rozic will now play professional football in the country of his birth for the first time.

Rozic is likely to form a partnership with United captain Michael Thwaite at the back, allowing Bleiberg the luxury of playing Dutch recruit Paul Beekmans in midfield instead of the heart of defence.

Beekmans has been a pre-season revelation since joining the Glitter Strip club from SC Cambuur in June and it is expected that he will play alongside countryman Peter Jungschlager and reborn Brazilian linkman Robson in the middle of the park - a combination that has proven lethal in training matches.

Rozic joins former Central Coast and Wellington striker Dylan Macallister as United's final additions to their squad, which now sits at 23 players - the maximum allowed by A-League regulations.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that Macallister had already signed with Gold Coast but the club said it has not yet reached a deal with the towering target man, though it expects to in the coming days.
