With Gold Coast United’s future all but non-existent following two weeks of ownership turmoil, the club’s young stars are in high demand from Wellington to WA.

While a number have been guaranteed the second year of their United deals will be honoured by FFA, there is little likelihood they’ll be playing in Gold Coast colours next season.

Coming through the club’s youth league side under coach Mike Mulvey's impressive guidance, many have shown they can take the next step.

One such young star is talented 19-year-old forward Chris Harold, who is understood to be attracting interest from Perth Glory.

Ian Ferguson has an ageing list and Harold, born in the WA capital, would be a smart acquisition given the recent loss of experienced former Socceroo striker Mile Sterjovski.

If Harold joined Glory, he’d link up with the current trio of former Gold Coast players at Glory - Bas Van Den Brink, Shane Smeltz and Steve Pantelidis.

Meanwhile Wellington Phoenix are understood to be eyeing livewire 21-year-old striker GolGol Mebrahtu.

The forward, who grew up in Brisbane, hit the post last weekend in United’s loss to Phoenix in Wellington.

But it’s his contribution throughout this season that has Phoenix on alert as they aim to reinvigorate their striking stocks.

Veteran strikers Chris Greenacre and Paul Ifill have done a wonderful job for Ricki Herbert, but the Eritrean-born speedster could provide a new edge to their attacking arsenal.

Gold Coast midfielder Ben Halloran, 19, is understood to be keen on exploring European options with several A-League clubs said to be waiting in the wings should an overseas deal not materialise.

One agent told au.fourfourtwo.com: “There are so many really talented players on the Gold Coast little wonder they are in demand while this whole ownership saga goes on.”

Meanwhile Jake Baker-Daish, 18, could be a target of both Melbourne clubs.

The central midfielder would suit both Victorian teams – particularly Victory – who have an ageing squad and a need to bolster their midfield with quick, skilful and young talent.

Baker-Daish, who was young enough to be part of the last Young Socceroo World Cup squad and still be eligible for the next one in 2013, grew up in Victoria where he cemented his reputation as a future talent.

Other young players seeking to impress in the remainder of the season are Josh Brillante, Mitch Cooper and powerful defender Zach Anderson - who is set to be named in the Olyroos later today.

Striker James Brown, 22, has already left the club to join Newcastle Jets.
