Four rounds into the inaugural NYL season and Sydney FC’s young guns have proven they are a force to be reckoned with.

The 19-year-old was among the goals as Sydney triumphed 5-3 in Perth over the weekend. This after his goal in round three's win over Adelaide.

He said: “We’ve gotten off to a good start. We’re on top of the table, we’re undefeated, hopefully we can keep it up.

“It was a long trip, we knew it was going to be hard, it was hot weather, but we got the job done. My aim is to score a goal in every game, so hopefully I can keep it up.

“I’ve played with some of the boys before but until recently half of us have never played together.

“Training can be tough because we can’t always get all the players together but we’re starting to gel as a group and things are looking good.”

This weekend Steve O’Connor’s side will again be on the road for a clash with Melbourne Victory.

“It’s another big test for us. Melbourne haven’t gotten off to the best of starts but they’re a tough side and we’ll have to be on our game,” said Rooney.

The young Sky Blues will chase their fourth straight win when they take on Victory at 4pm this Sunday in the Southern capital.
