The Perth Glory defender, who can play either in the centre of defence or at left-back, is viewed as the perfect replacement for former skipper Jade North.

Whether he could be recruited in time for the start of Newcastle's Asian Champions League tilt remains to be seen as he will remain under contract with Glory until the end of June.

Jets CEO John Tsatsimas told the Herald: "He is certainly a player we are very interested in.

"With the departure of Jado (Jade North) we have room in our defence for a quality player.

"At this stage things look pretty favourable, but but I do not want to say too much until he has signed on the bottom line."

He has been one of the first names on the Perth teamsheet over the past two seasons but he was recently linked with a switch to North Queensland Fury before the Jets opened negotiations.
