EXCLUSIVE: Sydney FC's Scott Jamieson defeated NRL star Jarryd Hayne in EA Sports FIFA 11 Battle of the Codes to claim the trophy and intra-code bragging rights - as the Sky Blues announced a new sponsorship.
"The right code came out on top," Jamieson told au.foufourtwo.com after his final win over the Eels superstar at EA's HQ in Sydney.
Other competitors included former NRL great Wendell Sailor and Wallaby Stephen Moore.
"The pressure was on but very glad to have won," the 21-year-old added.
EA SPORTS will also sponsor Sydney FC for the coming three home games with their "We Are 11" logos across the back of their kit on Sunday 26 September v Gold Coast, Wednesday 29 September v North Queensland and Monday 4 October v Adelaide United.
Sydney FC player Brendan Gan was also involved in the development of the new game.
Earlier this year, he went to EA SPORTS' development studio in Canada where his moves were captured through a process known as Mo-Capping (motion capturing) and have been brought to life through animation in FIFA 11.
Jamieson hopes this whiff of success will rub off on bottom of the table A-League side starting in less than two weeks.
"We've got the bye so take the two weeks off and hopefully our season starts against
Gold Coast."
Asked why the winless reigning champions had yet to find their groove and Jamieson said it was about what happens from this point on.
"It's just about forgetting the last five or six weeks. It's funny to say but there were some positives to come out of the Wellington game [last weekend] and we've got to do the right things every week and
hopefully a bit of luck falls our way."
Jamieson also predicted a return for Nick Carle, Terry McFlynn and Alex Brosque for the Gold Coast home game.
"It'll be a big boost but I don't want to put any pressure on the lads."
In a unique sponsorship deal, the EA SPORTS and FIFA 11 "We Are 11" logos will be emblazoned across the back of the famous Sky Blue strip.
"At EA SPORTS, a core tenant of our brand is to work with the top Football leagues, clubs and athletes around the globe to support the growth of Football and to bring an unmatched level of authenticity to the videogame experience for sports fans and gamers," said Chris Gatherer, Marketing Director for EA SPORTS in Australia and New Zealand.
"In keeping with this tradition, we are thrilled to now team up with Sydney FC for a series of exciting home games to showcase our support for Australian Football both on the field and in our videogames."
In EA SPORTS FIFA 11, set for release on September 30 in Australia, sports gamers can select Sydney FC as their preferred club and take on other A-League clubs.
"This partnership between our strong brands in the Australian market is a perfect fit," said Iggy Jovanovic, Head of Corporate Partnerships.
"We are very proud that Sydney FC is the first Hyundai A-League club to be supported on the field by EA SPORTS, bringing a wealth of experience of partnering with teams in many of the world's best leagues.
"Our supporters have given us nothing but praise for this partnership and see the wonderful benefits for both sides."
