NEWCASTLE pair Michael Bridges and Ljubo Milicevic have revealed they are desperate to see the Jets retain the services of ex-England international striker Francis Jeffers.

Former Everton and Arsenal man Jeffers is nearing the end of his 10-match guest stint on the Hunter and reports yesterday suggested a deal wouldn't be struck between the two parties to keep him on in Newcastle despite his positive impact at the club.
Since Jeffers' arrival at the club, the Jets have picked up 17 points from a possible 24 to move into the top six.
And Bridges told the Newcastle Herald he hopes a deal to keep Jeffers on can be arranged.
"Frannie could be the difference between winning and not,'' Bridges said. "He brings that X-factor, something different.
"Since his arrival we have lost one game. That speaks volumes. He has been a breath of fresh air with his ability to hold the ball up and deliver chances for other people.
"If the club can sort something out with the regards to FFA it would be fantastic. We want him to be here and he loves the area."
Jeffers, 29, is understood to be keen on a long-term deal wherever he goes to look after his family who had joined him in Newcastle.
Milicevic told the Newcastle Herald it was a difficult situation for the two parties but retained hope the Jets could keep him on.
"I don't want to see him go but he has to look after himself and his family,'' Milicevic said.
"He has been great for us and will be a big loss. It's hard to predict (what impact his departure will have), but I'd rather have him in my team than not in my team.
"A lot of it started when he got here. He was the missing link and it will be sad to see him go if he does.''
