Vignaroli has just arrived back in Newcastle from Europe and talks will continue in the pursuit of a deal. While Newcastle are taking nothing for granted, club CEO John Tsatsimas is feeling positive about the situation.

A change of coach might have been a worrying factor in some cases but Tsatsimas says there is already mutual respect between Vignaroli and new coach Branko Culina.

"Fabio is back in Newcastle now," Tsatsimas told au.fourfourtwo.com. . "There are certain aspects that we still have got to settle on but the fact that he's here is a good sign and we're working towards having him here for the forthcoming season.

"The fact that he's here indicates his sincerity in terms of partaking in the new season and we hope we are able to reach common ground. I'm sure he wouldn't have been short of suitors but he likes Newcastle and likes us as a club."

Despite Vignaroli having been recruited under former coach Gary van Egmond, Culina clearly sees the same quality performer as his predecessor.

"We are blessed in the fact that Branko was here when Fabio played last year," said Tsatsimas. "He knows Branko and Branko knows him.

'Fabio has played under numerous coaches during his career so he's well versed in adapting to different methodologies. Branko is an advocate, a fan, so hopefully Fabio will become part of the roster."
