Newcastle Jets have embarked on an ambitious scouting trip to South America in the hunt for their new Pele...or at least a new Milton Rodriguez.
Jets Head Coach Gary van Egmond and Assistant Coach Mark Jones have arrived in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in search of talent to fill some key positions in the Jets line up.
The Jets coaching team are on a 10 day tour of Brazil and Argentina and have been given the mission to capture at least one signature from a highly talented player.
Gary and Mark are said to be very impressed and excited at the standard and quality of players that they have seen in the first two matches they scouted, and are very optimistic about finding a player that will meet the clubs requirements.
Gary and Mark have a schedule which will see them attending at least 4 more matches on their scouting trip.
Meanwhile, Sydney FC have ruled out any overseas scouting trips by their staff until the end of season three.
Chief Executive George Perry revealed: "Branko and I have discussed the possibility of going overseas to look at talent in future as well as building on his technical knowledge.
"We have to invest in Branko and make sure that he is improving and getting the competetive edge as well.
"[But] with Champions League and then pre-season Cup, it won't happen until the end of v3 now."
