Bridges has been on trial with Branko Culina's squad as the Hunter outfit look to boost their goal output.

Culina and his new forward had the briefest of spells together at Sydney FC before the then Sydney coach was shown the door.

Bridges bagged a couple of goals during his initial stint Down Under, including a winner against the Jets.

"I was excited when I got the phone call a week ago to come out here as I was on my way to Portugal and I did a U-turn to get out here and to re-unite with Branko (Culina) and play with the Jets and obviously in the A-League," Bridges said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"I felt like I've got something to offer but I had to come out here and prove myself. I wasn't just going to walk in here. The lads have put my through my paces with the team and it has all been well and good and I am excited to be part of the Jets team.

"To team up again with Branko was one of the main issues as well. I still felt like I could offer something and to get up and running again."

Culina believes that the leadership qualities and experience that Bridges brings to the club was a critical factor in the decision to sign him after a week-long trial.

"Michael comes with a lot of experience. We've taken our time with filling our last spot, as you would know, we've had dozens of players come and go and you can never be sure but this is the surest we have been. The fact that I knew Michael from our previous involvement at Sydney helped," he said.

"One of the things that really impressed us at this club was, when Michael came, he quickly got to get himself involved with other players, which meant that we were not only getting a player who could do the job on the park."

Depending on his visa being approved Bridges will be available to play in the Jets' round nine A-League clash against Adelaide United on Monday.
