The former Melbourne Victory player has been brought in for the next two months as a replacement for the injured Shaun Ontong.

Piorkowski, 24, was a part of Melbourne’s 2006/07 Hyundai A-League Championship winning squad, making 30 appearances in 3 years at the club.

He then set sail for England for a series of trials before returning to home soil and signing with the Jets today.

The towering blonde may take to the pitch as soon as tomorrow evening, particularly given that Newcastle skipper Jade North will not return to the Hunter region until later this evening after undertaking Qantas Socceroos duties over the previous fortnight.

Head coach Gary van Egmond today stated that he is thrilled with the addition of the former Australian Under-20 representative into his squad.

“He adds some real experience and toughness to our team and we look forward to working with Daniel over the course of his time here.”

“His addition definitely gives us some good depth in that area, which I believe we needed. I believe he’ll be a real bonus for us during the next 8 weeks,” van Egmond said.
