Turkey and France have been mentioned as potential destinations for the Socceroos defender but nothing has yet to materialise and the club is unhappy about the unsettling effect it could have on their player.

Newcastle director of football Remo Nogarotto told The Herald: "The thing is starting, more and more, to look like amateur hour.

"I feel sorry for Jade at the moment, because he has a situation where his club, Newcastle, won't stand in his way to pursue his dream.

"Someone has ratcheted up his hopes, but there's nothing on the table and the transfer window [closure] in Europe is rapidly approaching."

Harry Kewell's new club Galatasaray were reported to have dropped their interest in the Socceroo defender after details of their offer were allegedly leaked by the Jets.

The Turkish club claimed the move was disrespectful - and immediately pulled out of negotiations.

North was rumoured to have flown to France at the weekend for talks with newly-promoted Ligue One side Grenoble, but the Jets skipper reported for training with Newcastle on Saturday.

North himself says he remains unsure what the future holds for him.

He said: "It's all about football really, where I'm best suited to go. At the end of the day if someone has interest in you, then great, but I won't find out until something else has been said. I don't know anything at this stage."

North insists all the transfer talk won't put him off doing his very best for Newcastle.

"I haven't even been thinking about it, to be honest. If something comes, it comes up, if it doesn't I'm not worried about it," he said.

"This is my job [the Jets], this is what I have to do. I'm here to play, I'm here to stay as far as I know."

Coach Gary van Egmond has said North will play against Perth Glory this weekend if there are no developments on the transfer front.
