JETS star Joel Griffiths has put his new contract on hold despite being widely expected to be paraded as the club's next marquee star today.
Griffiths had been expected to ink a deal earlier this week and a press conference to announce the deal was pencilled in for yesterday.
Plans for that were cancelled but another press conference today was tipped to be the unveiling of Griffiths on a $1m, four year deal as the club marquee.
But in a surprise, the conference revealed Jets coach Gary van Egmond had signed a three year contract extension instead.
A club insider admitted: "Joel is still thinking it over."
The Jets now hope to be able to announce the deal "...fairly soon."
