JOEL Griffiths says he's happy with the terms of the loan deal to J-League side Avispa Fukuoka – all he wants now is to sign the contract.
Speaking after playing for the Socceroos in yesterday's 2-1 trial match loss to the Olyroos, the Jets star says the short-term move to the J2 side will keep him “ticking over” during Australia long off-season.
“I've spoken to the [Avispa] assistant coach Ian Crook and the club's general manager, they came up to Newcastle for the Wellington game recently in the A-League.
“I spoke to them [Avispa] about the prospect of me going out on loan to them and we spoke about the contract and the money and everything's good.
“It's a not a bad thing to have, especially when we don't play for three months after the season's over – keep your body ticking over. And I'm all for it.
“And I'm looking forward to the challenge if it occurs.”
Jets CEO John Tsatsimas told www.au.fourfourtwo.com last weekend that no formal offer has been tabled for the 28-year-old talisman. “It depends on the specifics, what's suitable to both clubs and also when we finish our season.
“There are lots of factors. We could potentially be playing in the Pan Pacific tournament in late February in Hawai,” he said.
