OUTGOING Sydney FC chairman Andrew Kemeny has expressed sympathy for axed boss John Kosmina with the former coach swept away by a new regime looking for a fresh start.
Kosmina left the club yesterday after just 15 months in charge with new owners set to take control on March 1.
They clearly decided a new coaching appointment was required and Kosmina's replacement should be announced in the next few days.
However, current chairman Kemeny has expressed sadness at his friend's departure but added that someone had to take the blame for a poor season.
He told the Sun-Herald: "He wanted to stay on, absolutely. I think he's a victim of new owners with a new broom but also, let's face it, we haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory and someone always has to take the blame for it."
Tony Popovic is expected to take charge of the team in the short term with the team expected to play a match in China later this month.
