GALATASARAY failed to catch up with the early leaders after being held to a 1-1 draw by Antalyaspor on Saturday.
Last season's Turkish champions got off to a bright start after taking an early lead through Shabani Nonda with 11 minutes played, but were pegged back just after the half-hour mark by Joseph Ngwenya.
Atalyaspor were reduced to 10-men in the 90th minute after Yalcin Ayhan's dismissal, but the visitors hung on for their first point of the season.
Galatasaray are now in fifth with five points from their opening three games, one place ahead of Kayserispor who won their first game of the season with a 1-0 win over Kocaelispor. Eren Gungor got the only goal after 66 minutes.
Hacettepe SK came from a goal down to record their first victory of the new Super Lig season with a 2-1 win over Fenerbahce, who have now lost two of their opening three games.
Alex gave the Istanbul giants the lead after 20 minutes, but Ibrahim Sahin equalised on the stroke of half-time.
Fener then fell to pieces in the second half as Can Arat scored an own goal on the hour mark before goalkeeper Volken Demirel was sent off in the final minute of the match.
Behind them in sixth Konyaspor were also held to 1-1 draw by seventh-placed Denizlispor. Kaue put the hosts ahead after 52 minutes but Russian defender Roman Kratochvil tied the game with five minutes remaining.
