JOHN Kosmina says last season's near misses are fuelling his hunger for success as he celebrates 12 months with a club that he believes is heading in the right direction.

Kosmina has now been in the Sydney hot-seat for a year, his first match in charge being a 3-2 home win over Central Coast Mariners in late October last season - also John Aloisi's first match in the A-League.
A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then so how does Kossie look back on his first year.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "It hasn't been too bad. At the end of the day we had a great opportunity to do the double last year.
"We ended up missing out. We drew 2-2 with Melbourne in a game we should have won. If we'd won that we would have won the premiership.
"Had we finished first or second instead of third or fourth then I think we'd have beaten Newcastle or the Central Coast because we rolled them five games out of six. Three out of three against Newcastle and two out of three with the Central Coast.
"Queensland were our bogey side last season, we drew them in the finals and they put us out.
"For me there's always not what has been but what could have been. That (last season) certainly a what could have been. It just makes me a bit hungrier for what we can do this year."
As for where the club is at now, Kosmina is happy but far from complacent.
He said: "I think things are changing. We've still got a long way to go and you can always improve. That's the message we try and get to the players and within the staff as well.
"You can always be better at what you do. Don't ever get complacent. We're starting to work towards that. There's always a bit of grief along the way but that's life. Life in the big city."
