The Sydney FC boss is hardly gloomy about the season so far but knows it could be even better.

Speaking after today’s training session he said: “Everyone’s gone through a rough patch. We’ve only lost three.

"There’s teams above us that have lost more games. Now it’s about mucking in and getting some consistency.

"Our form has been a bit patchy. Hopefully we’ve been through our rough trot."

He added: “We’ve done a lot of football-related stuff in the last couple of weeks.

"Hopefully that will stand us in good stead for tomorrow night.”

Kosmina believes the campaign to date has been a process of players learning about each other and adapting accordingly.

He said: “This whole season so far has been about players getting accustomed to each other.

"We had a little chat the other day. I looked round the dressing room and there’s 11 new faces in there from last season.

"It’s a lot of people, a lot of changes.”

Although he has been vocal in his distaste for the current transfer structure, Kosmina also accepts that you just have to get on with it.

He said: “We know that at least three, if not four, won’t be here next year.

"Players come and go. We’ve got salary cap restrictions. People have to move. It’s a fact of life.”

Defender Iain Fyfe is strongly tipped to leave Sydney for tomorrow’s opponents and Kosmina says Sydney have done all they can to try to keep him.

“If he (Fyfe) does move on, good luck to him. He’s an Adelaide boy," he said. "If he wants to go home we can’t stand in his way. We’ve done the best we can to keep him.

"If Adelaide have got a better offer then so be it. We live with that. It’s a competitive environment, it’s business.”

As for the match itself, the Sydney FC boss believes the Reds will be ready to go again and feels their recent adventures in Asia will serve them well over the rest of the domestic campaign.

He said: “I think they’ll be a lot more competitive (after a 3-0 defeat last week).

'We play a different game to the Central Coast. Central Coast are a big side, not only in terms of their height but their physical stature.

"They play a very direct game. They almost bashed Adelaide up last week, they outmuscled them.

“We’re more of a footballing side and that’s taking nothing away from the Coast. If we had some big blokes, we’d probably do the same thing.'

He added: “Adelaide have had a week to get over their Asian schedule. I think they’ll be better off.

“That sort of preparation’s (reaching the final and the travel schedule involved) always going to be better further down the track.

"The players become a lot more resilient mentally and phyiscally. It will stand them in good stead for the second half of this season.”

There was a familiar face at Sydney training today with goalkeeper Mark Bosnich helping coach John Filan put the club's keepers through their paces.

Bosnich is also keeping in shape as he prepares for a forthcoming clash between an Oceania XI and LA Galaxy next month.

Kosmina is delighted to have Bosnich at the club, albeit in a mentoring not playing role.

He said: "He was the number one goalkeeper in the world at one stage.

"He’s played with a lot of great players so you cannot knock back the opportunity to have some experience like that around.

"We’ve got a few young guys here, we’ve got young keepers training with us now. I spoke to him a while back and said if you want to come in, you’re welcome.

"I respect the guy, I admire him as a pro. He’s had a few issues in his life that he wants to sort out.

"If we can help him do that by giving him the opportunity to have something meaningful to do each day then so be it."

Kosmina isn't considering a playing role for Bosnich but admit's he's doing a tremendous job in the dressing room.

"I haven’t even considered that," he said. "He’s great to have around. He’s a character, he’s funny. He drives you nuts sometimes because he never shuts up but he’s funny.

"That’s the sort of dressing humour I grew up with and it’s good to have it here again. It’s great for our blokes. They’ve all responded to him really positively."
