Galaxy arrived this morning with David Beckham the centre of attention from a large media contingent and fans fans at Melbourne airport.
The newly crowned MLS champions arrived on a charter flight from the Philippines where they played on Saturday night against the local national team.
Beckham scored one in the thumping 6-1 victory that was also watched by boxing great Manny Pacquiao.
Last Wednesday Galaxy took on an Indonesian national team in Jakarta with Robbie Keane the lone scorer in the 1-0 win.
However Galaxy President Tom Payne told au.fourfourtwo.com that this Tuesday was the biggest test.
“First I just want to say it’s great to be here and already the players are out and about walking through Melbourne," said Payne. "We don’t like to be landlocked in a hotel.
“The players feel fresh even though it’s the end of our season and are genuinely excited to be here.”
“We’ve played in Indonesia and Philippines but this will be our hardest test.”
Galaxy will freshen up today (Sunday) before having an open training session on Monday afternoon at Visy Park ahead of Tuesday night’s clash at Etihad in the Hyundai Club Challenge Melbourne.
Beckham is also set to visit a children’s hospital on Monday morning.
