SYDNEY FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka offered credit to his players for an improved second-half performance in Sunday's 1-0 loss to Brisbane Roar but ultimately he rued a lack of end product.

The Sky Blues lacked adventure and were poor in the opening half as the Roar took a 1-0 lead into the break, before the home produced a much improved performance in the second stanza.
"We made the two substitutions, we told the players to stay positive, work hard and try to change the game," Lavicka said.
"I think in the second half we definitely improved, we played better quality in attack, we created half chances, some chances, but we didn't score the goal.
"Full credit to the players, especially those that weren't 100 per cent fit like Bruno Cazarine coming back after more than three weeks injury and Alex Brosque was 75 per cent fit but he showed strong character, and the other boys showed character too.
"But we need the (finishing) product."
Sky Blues skipper Terry McFlynn said the change in his side after half-time was down to possession.
"In the first half we didn't keep possession well enough, especially against a team like Roar who like to keep possession," McFlynn said.
"That was what we did a lot better in the second half - kept the ball a lot more, created a few chances but in the end it wasn't enough. We defended well but we just didn't keep possession enough."
McFlynn added: "We've got strong characters in the group, we never give up.
"We're still within touching distance of the finals and the good thing about football is there is always a game quick and fast to get three points and luckily for us that's this Wednesday night, so we'll be focussing on getting the three points up there."
Sydney FC's next match is a must-win game away to North Queensland Fury on Wednesday.
