Brazilian Cassio played a part in all three goals, providing the crosses which led to goals for Diego and Fabian Barbiero before earning his team the late penalty that was converted by Cristiano.

There wasn't a huge amount in for almost an hour, indeed the visitors were looking threatening, until Diego rammed United in front. But when Barbiero bundled in the second with less than 15 minutes to go there was a bit of breathing space and the last-gasp penalty was the icing on the cake - all this in front of a record Hindmarsh crowd.

A great night for Adelaide United and a great night for Australian football. You suspect there'll be a few beers being sunk in the city of churches long into the night!
