EXCLUSIVE: Melbourne Victory star recruit Ljubo Milicevic isn't likely to be available for selection until around New Year's Eve.
Sources in Melbourne tell au.fourfourtwo.com that the knee injury which the Socceroo sustained in the opening round in Wellington is still a problem.
Milicevic's injury may not have healed properly when he returned to action against Adelaide in round eight – or he may have jarred it again during the 4-1 drubbing against the Reds.
As a consequence, the 26-year-old former FC Thun defender has spent much of the last month trying to right his knee and will continue his rehab through till mid December, effectively putting him out of action until 2008.
“He may have come back too soon, or he copped another injury against Adelaide, who knows,” says the source.
It's been an eventful stint at Milicevic's hometown club.
Following the injury there have been media reports that the player has not settled into the squad.
He's also been linked to some of Melbourne's more glamourous women and described in one newspaper as a “Socceroo party boy”.
