Rado Vidosic’s men are in unfamiliar territory as they head into their round 6 match, with goal difference all that stands between the Queensland outfit and the bottom of the table.

But fit-again Franjic said the team remains confident ahead of their showdown against fellow strugglers Melbourne Heart at AAMI Park tonight. Like Roar, Heart’s season has stalled after a sensational season-opening derby win against Melbourne Victory.

Despite last weekend’s 1-0 loss to table-toppers Adelaide United, the 25-year-old remained bullish about Roar’s title winning chances even with their failure to score in the last two matches.

Once the league’s unbeatables, Roar were toothless in attack against Adelaide despite having most of the ball and firing 12 shots on target compared with the Reds’ three.

“It’s something we haven’t experienced for a while but there’s still confidence in the camp and we believe we can turn it around on Friday,” Franjic told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“Heart will definitely be dangerous – they’re a good team and they’ll be out to attack as well. Both teams will be trying the move up the table.

“But really I think we’ve been a bit unlucky – we’re creating chances but we’re just not punishing teams.

“There are more positives than negatives out of the game and really against Adelaide we created enough chances to win a couple of games. Hopefully come Friday we get that bit of luck we need in front of goal.”

Last month they ruthlessly disposed of former coach Ange Postecoglou’s Melbourne Victory 5-0. Since then they have scored just one goal. But Franjic who has been sidelined for three of Roar’s five games with a stomach injury said heads were up.

“We’re positive – definitely,” the fullback said. “We went through this last year when we lost five games in a row and we turned that around. So the boys have that belief that we can turn it around like we did last season.”

The Melbourne-born player has made no secret of his desire to wear the green and gold, although his omission from a 19-player squad to take on Korea Republic next week came as no surprise given his injury interrupted start to the season.

“It would be nice to get a Socceroos call-up but the most important thing is performing well for  Roar and playing as many games and as consistently as possible,” he said.

“(Against Adelaide) I wasn’t too bad but when a team loses it’s always disappointing and you think, could I have done more? At least I got 90 minutes under my belt and I’m looking to build from there.”
