CENTRAL Coast Mariners chairman Lyall Gorman says the club has the hardest route to grand final glory but is at its best when faced with the toughest of challenges.
The Mariners are preparing for two meetings with Queensland Roar to determine which side makes it through to the preliminary final.
There is simply no room for error in the next two matches and no second chance if a team slips up.
Gorman said: "We must firstly congratulate our playing group and coaching staff for navigating our path to a third Finals Series appearance, indeed a magnificent achievement for our club."
Getting into the top four is only the first part of the equation but the club chairman isn't worried about the challenges that still lie ahead if the trophy is to be secured.
He said: "We’ll be going into this Finals Series as the outsiders, most certainly, but that suits us down to the ground.
"As the fourth placed club, we have the toughest route to the Grand Final but we’ve shown on many occasions that this is perhaps the scenario where our club thrives most.
"We look forward to welcoming the Roar to Bluetongue Stadium on Friday, 6 February and then doing battle the week after at Suncorp Stadium, where we’ll hopefully extend our participation in the Finals Series and give ourselves another shot at the Hyundai A-League Championship."
