EXCLUSIVE: Central Coast Mariners have offered Young Socceroos goalkeeping hero Andrew Redmayne an extended deal.
Australia's youngsters lifted the ASEAN Under Championship over the weekend, defeating Korea in the final.
After a goalless draw, the tournament was decided by a penalty shoot-out and Redmayne played a massive part in the triumph by saving three Korean spot-kicks.
While much of the Mariners goalkeeping focus over recent months has been on Danny Vukovic and Mark Bosnich, coach Lawrie McKinna has never lost sight of the facr that he has a young keeper with tremendous potential on the books.
Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com today, McKinna said: "I'm delighted that young Andrew enjoyed success over there with them (the Young Socceroos).
"He is a very good player and we're talking to him at the moment about extending his deal with us."
McKinna reckons the Mariners goalkeeping stocks are "definitely" the envy of his A-League rivals.
The Central Coast boss added: "He is a big part of the future for this club and he's a really excellent prospect.
"He has a good build, he's a good athlete and he's a Central Coast boy as well.
"What I also like is that he's always got a smile on his face, no matter what John Crawley (the goalkeeping coach) throws at him.
"I'm confident he's going to make it and could go overseas one day."
McKinna is also hoping that defender and strength and conditioning coach Andrew Clark will agree terms by the end of the week.
