LAWRIE McKinna admitted Queensland Roar had simply been too good for his team over two legs with Central Coast thoughts now turning to the Asian Champions League.
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg of the minor semi-final, the Mariners slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night to go out of the finals series 4-1 on aggregate.
McKinna said: "After their first goal went in, a lot of our belief went out the window and we were basically hanging on until half time.
"After their second goal, basically it was gone then, but then we started looking for the ball, wanting the ball, getting wide, keeping possession a bit and with a wee bit more luck we could have got an equaliser.
"But we can't keep blaming luck, Queensland capitalised on our mistakes like the good team that they are - no complaints, they were the better team over two legs and deserve to go through."
There is little time to dwell on the disappointment though with the ACL only a few weeks away.
McKinna said: "We'll be sitting down tomorrow to start our planning for the AFC Champions League and there's not going to be a lot of down time.
"We've got a big four months ahead of us now and now that we're out of the Finals Series, we'll look at our options.
"We'll freshen the boys up a bit, after the last few weeks their heads will be down a bit, but there's no use dwelling on it, we have to get over our last five weeks and take the positives out of the last 35 minutes from this game and move forward."
