PERTH Glory have bolstered their attacking stocks for the upcoming A-League season with the addition of Billy Mehmet, another St Mirren veteran like fellow new boy Steven McGarry.
Born in London, Mehmet is of part English, Irish and Turkish Cypriot descent and has played for the Republic of Ireland U-21 team.
The 27-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club and will be Glory's final import player.
"I'm really happy and looking forward to playing with the club," Mehmet said.
Glory coach Ian Ferguson hopes the 1.89m striker will add another dimension to his attacking options next season.
"Billy is a great acquisition," Ferguson said.
"He gives us another option up front and complements the forwards we have."
Mehmet has previously plied his trade in Scotland for Dunfermline and St Mirren as well as stints in Turkey for Genclerbirligi and Samsunspor and he said he is looking forward to playing alongside New Zealand international Shane Smeltz.
