The Italian champions have publicly admitted their interest in the 29-year-old, with reports in Milan claiming that he is definitely en route to meet with club officials this week.

However, club president Massimo Moratti insists the media is getting carried away.

"Milito? He is not yet an Inter player," said Moratti.

"Moreover, the negotiation is not as advanced as the newspapers claim it is."

Milito returned to Genoa last summer from Spanish side Real Zaragoza and is the team's top scorer with 20 goals notched this campaign.

No agreement on a transfer fee has been reached between the clubs but Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has revealed he will meet Inter executives soon to discuss Milito's future.

"In January there was contact and there was a strong interest from Inter on Milito," he said.

"We decided to postpone everything until the end of the season.

"We will meet up (with Inter) to discuss the situation."

Milito is under contract at Genoa until June 2012.
