Miller's exit from Brisbane and swift capture by Gold Coast ruffled a few feathers among the Roar faithful and he is likely to be in for some verbal stick from the travelling fans on Boxing Day.

As for matters on the pitch, Miller insists he left behind some great friends and he has met up with one to help promote the Skilled Park clash.

Miller and Craig Moore will put their 17-year friendship to one side for 90 minutes on Saturday.

The pair have fronted local media kitted out in club colours, but in the surreal surroundings of a local boxing ring, where Gold Coast's newest signing told journalists he was expecting more than a little 'sledging' from his former team-mates, including his close pal.

"Of course there will be a bit of banter, that's natural but I'll be giving as good as I get. A good bit of banter between the players is what a derby game is all about," Miller said.

"I'm still friends with the boys at the Roar, but on Saturday it's about the game and the three points; I'm looking forward to it.

"As for Craig and I, we've known each other for 17 years or so. We were next-door neighbours in Scotland and we're next-door neighbours again now. I used to steal his newspaper every morning.

"I've played against Craig before when he was at Rangers and I was at Dundee United. We're both professionals and we know that on Boxing Day it's all about us doing our best for our teams and going all out to win.

"Our friendship doesn't go onto the field. We'll be friends again after the match."

With the build up to the first ever Boxing Day derby well underway, Miller declared the three points to be the biggest prize on offer, even with bragging rights up for grabs as an added bonus.

With Gold Coast closing the gap on the top two last weekend, the mercurial Scot says he and his new team-mates are focused on finishing the season strongly.

"We want to be in the top two so it's a very important game for us and a very important game for Brisbane as well," he said.

"Because I was playing there last season and part of this season, it's added some spice to the match. But for us it's all about getting the three points and no doubt Brisbane Roar feel the same.

"I've got nothing to prove (to the Roar) but I want to win with my new club.

"I want us to get to the Grand Final this year. I want to be part of a club that is heading in the right direction and if I can keep doing well then hopefully we can sit down and talk about a new contract for next season."

Clearly happy with the start he has made in his new surroundings, Miller was quick to heap praise the United players who have helped him settle and make an immediate impact in Gold Coast colours.

He added: "They're all good lads and good players. They'll help me score goals and I'll be doing my best to help them score goals.

"I've been fortunate so far with two assists and one goal, so I just want that to continue. Miron brought me here to make an impact and either create or score goals, so hopefully I can do that again on Boxing Day.

"Gold Coast have been very exciting all season. They signed some terrific players and have been going very well."
