Milligan didn't quite last the whole game as his new team crashed to a first half strike from Dylan Macallister.

After the game, van Egmond was understandably disappointed with the loss but explained that it wasn’t all bad news for the defending A-League Champions.

He said: “It was very frustrating. In parts we probably got drawn into their game a little bit too much where they’re very direct and we started to go direct. We were fairly narrow in stages as well.

“I thought the game was pretty even, if you looked at it on the whole I would suggest that we had the most possession, but possession doesn’t necessarily mean you win games and tonight that was very evident.”

As for new boy Milligan, the coach said: "He’ll be much better for that run and we now have a nine day turnaround before we play Queensland at home so we’ll be able to get a little more work out of him. I think he’ll get a lot of benefit out of tonight."
