Burns and United's Zenon Caravella were engaged in a heated battle in the midfield, particularly during the first half of United's 1-0 victory over Perth at nib Stadium.

Although Bleiberg was speaking in a jovial manner after the club's first win of the season, he still hit out at Burns, likening the Glory man's actions against Caravella to that of English hard man Vinnie Jones.

"By the way, Jacob Burns becomes a bit like Vinnie Jones, did you know," Bleiberg said. "Did you know this is what's happened during the game?

"Remember what Vinnie Jones is famous for? I don't want to mention it."

Infamous for some brutal challenges during a 15-year career that included stints at Leeds United, Wimbledon and Chelsea, Jones went on to become a film star in movies like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

But the now 45-year-old is most notorious for being caught squeezing the testicles of Newcastle's Paul Gascoigne while playing for Wimbledon in 1987.

When Bleiberg was specifically asked whether Burns had 'squirrel-gripped' Caravella, the coach's response was: "Ask Zenon. Zenon's still complaining, you know."

Burns was not cautioned by referee Matthew Breeze for the incident, although Bleiberg's comments will almost certainly ensure the matter is examined by the Football Federation Australia match review panel.
