Staring down the barrel of four games in 14 days, Bleiberg set his team a target of seven competition points.

With only one of those four fixtures to play - against Sydney on Sunday - Bleiberg's Gold Coast already has the seven points in the bag leaving the boisterous mentor with a welcome dilemma: does he shut up shop and play for a draw against Sydney FC or go on the attack and look for three bonus points as United surge up the Hyundai A-League ladder?

Speaking ahead of the match against the winless Sydney FC, Bleiberg indicated he would go one way, and then did a double take, covering his tracks in a bid to keep last year's grand-finalists guessing.

"Now we can go to Sydney and throw all caution to the wind and go for it because we are already on the right track to what we want to achieve," he said.

"Or we can go to Sydney and do what the Mariners and Newcastle did to us; let them take the initiative and then hit them on the break.

"Which will we do? I'm not telling."

Either way Bleiberg and United will come through their most testing section of the draw in good shape.

"We have the seven points with a game to spare so everything that I wanted the boys produced," he said.

"I think I am one of the few coaches who don't hesitate to put targets, I put it straight forward and the boys have achieved that so I am very proud."

But Bleiberg is not expecting to travel to Sydney and have it all his way. Sydney FC will be fresh from a 15-day break between matches.

"Sydney are just sitting there and waiting to go yum and bite us," he said.

"I don't know how our boys will respond but I am confident in the depth we have in the squad."

Bleiberg is likely to again rotate his line-up as he did in Wednesday's last-minute 1-0 victory over Newcastle.

One man who will be there, after becoming the coach's new favourite with his 90th minute missile that landed United's first home win for the season, is John Curtis.

"I give you the line-up against Sydney: John Curtis and another 10," Bleiberg said.

They might not resemble the attacking force of last season but Gold Coast has now kept three clean sheets in a row with ‘keeper Glen Moss barely raising a sweat in that period, leaving Bleiberg confident the club can build on last year's maiden finals appearance.

"We are playing good football and no one is coming close to making our goalkeeper do anything big. Our defence clears well and there is hardly one or two shots against us in a game and we have been playing against teams that can play," he said.

"With a bit of luck against Fury and Melbourne we have another three or four points and are right near the top of the ladder.

"Mark my words: Gold Coat United will be a force to be reckoned with as the season progress, both on and off the field."
