MIRON Bleiberg insists Gold Coast United’s financial muscle won’t result in local talent being ignored at the expense of big-name recruits.
While United’s big wallet and sun-drenched base should prove attractive for established stars, the club insists there is a commitment to talented players on its doorstep.
Bleiberg told goldcoast.com.au: “I've always said I wanted the best players on the Coast and we're trying to make sure that happens.
"We're a Gold Coast club and we want as much local representation as possible.
"It won't all be about high-profile visa and marquee players.”
The club has already kicked off its recruitment drive with ex Queensland Roar duo Scott Higgins and Steve Fitzsimmons signing on the dotted line.
Goalkeeper Higgins played under Bleiberg at Roar before moving on to Scotland while midfielder Fitzsimmons has been playing recently in the Brisbane state league.
Bleiberg has also invited a number of Gold Coast-based players to train with the club when the footballing set-up is ready to kick off.
