Djulbic has spent the last 12 months with German second tier outfit Rot Weiss Ahlen but struggled for first team football.

He is expected to begin training with United next week as Gold Coast look to keep up the pressure in the race for the Premiership.

United boss Miron Bleiberg is hoping a deal can be done for the player to ensure the club has plenty of defensive options and cover.

"It is just to bring some depth to the defence in case something happens to one of our defenders in the last stretch to the finals, we will have an experienced back-up," he told goldcoast.com.au.

Gold Coast are also being linked with former Brisbane Roar skipper Craig Moore.
