Heart dominated the first-half but could not take their chances, before United made them pay with Bas van den Brink's goal on the stroke of half-time and Jason Culina's second-half double.

"I'm not sure it was such a great performance," Bleiberg told FoxSports. "With all honesty, I think the result is a bit cruel.

"In the first-half they're as good as we are, but we did the Gold Coast on them and scored before half-time. Then the penalty, which was a 100 per cent penalty, and then the third goal."

He added: "Heart played good with a player like Sibon running the show and Matt Thompson and Colosimo, they're a good football side.

"But lucky for us the goal went our way this time and now I heard Adelaide lost in the last minute and that's another thing which went our way, so it's a good weekend."

Bleiberg also defended his decision to rest star Culina for the midweek loss to North Queensland after the Socceroo marked his return with an influential display including a brace.

"He (Culina) was brilliant," Bleiberg said. "The break did him a lot of good.

"I didn't intend the week-break to cost us three points against the Fury but otherwise it was a good exercise from his point of view.

"He came from Egypt (Socceroos duty) without rest, so I think the rest did him the world of good."

Two-goal hero Culina praised his side for getting the result despite Heart dominating possession.

"Everybody says the game's all about scoring goals," Culina told FoxSports.

"Ball possession doesn't mean a thing when you lose 3-0, so I'm glad we got the goals. I thought we played pretty smart today."

Culina added: "It's always nice to score goals but the most important thing is to get the three points. For me personally to score is the little thing just to top it off."

Gold Coast's next match is at home to Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.
