EXCLUSIVE: Miron Bleiberg attended Saturday night's west Sydney derby between Marconi and Sydney United and may have scouted an attacking defender for Gold Coast United.
Marconi's attacking defender Nahuel Arrarte, 30, picked a perfect time to have a blinder with the A-League coach in the stands.
Bleiberg was spotted by au.fourfourtwo.com and when quizzed admitted to that Arrarte caught his eye in the keenly fought NSW Premier League clash at Marconi stadium in Bossley Park.
Last season Bleiberg scouted experienced ex-Reds defender Kristian Rees and he proved his worth with an outstanding season at Skilled Park.
Arrarte, a former NSL player, is certainly good enough to make the step up particularly on the evidence of tonight's game.
The powerful centre back almost got on the scoresheet after a brilliant 30m run almost resulted in a stunning goal and his general play, particularly breaking from defence into attack, was a feature of the Stallions game-plan.
"I'm here because of the A-League [coaching] licence and we got a night free so I thought I'd watch a game," said Bleiberg, who was at pains to point out he wanted to stay out of the media spotlight during his stay in Sydney.
Bleiberg has just returned to Australia after an extreme sports holiday in New Zealand. He is in Sydney for two weeks taking a coaching course required by the AFC.
The AFC course is designed to avoid what happened with Reds coach Aurelio Vidmar during this year's AFC Champions League. The Adelaide coach lacked the requisite AFC coaching badge with Reds assistant Joe Mullen becoming the side's head coach in name only.
Vidmar had been too busy during the previous off-season to take one of the AFC's requisite coaching badges.
Bleiberg said he was "forced" to do the AFC course but said he was enjoying it. "You can always learn something new about everything in life."
Arrarte may've shone on a rainy night at Marconi stadium, but it was player-coach David Zdrilic's United who took the points with an impressive 3-0 victory.
Elsid Barkhousir bagged a brace for United while Mirjan Pavlovic also got on the scoresheet in the second half as United celebrated a previous victory over their rivals from down the road.
