Third place on the A-League ladder is guaranteed for United in their inaugural season, but  Bleiberg wants his troops to give themselves the best possible chance of finishing in the runners-up berth by disposing of North Queensland.

Even if they do secure the victory they need, United face a waiting game to find out if they will remain in second spot, with Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC facing each other in a do-or-die Premiership decider on Sunday.

But Bleiberg knows that good form leading into the finals series is essential and has vowed to come out with all guns blazing at Dairy Farmers Stadium after a solid week of training.

"It's been a good week overall. Obviously, at the start there were a few scars from the Wellington result, but since then the focus has returned and the players are ready for the weekend's game," he said.

"We have nothing to lose on Saturday night so we will employ a very attacking approach to the game. The players will be relaxed and I want them to go out there and enjoy themselves.

"Everything will be done to try and get second place on the ladder, but if it happens that we finish third then it's certainly not the end of the world.

"In our first season we have done well - we will finish at least third on the ladder and have been very competitive. It's a credit to everyone involved that we have achieved that much."

Youngster James Brown and Brazilian midfielder, Robson, are both expected to figure in United's line-up this weekend as Bleiberg tops-up their match fitness in readiness for the finals campaign, but an otherwise unchanged starting eleven is on the cards.

While Bleiberg has promised an attacking formation against the Fury, a highlight of United's good form in the closing third of the regular season has been their outstanding defensive record.

Just four goals have been conceded in eight games and only two have gone past goalkeeper Jess Vanstrattan in Gold Coast's last five outings, both of which were from the penalty spot.

The United custodian is confident of continuing Gold Coast's miserly defensive form.

"Since getting over my injuries I've been able to work solidly with our defenders week in, week out, and we've been doing a lot of good work in training over the last few months," said the former Juventus man.

"I think we've seen the fruits of that recently and despite last week's loss it's looking good for us heading into the finals.

"Whether we finish third or second I'm confident we can go far in the Finals Series and give a good account of ourselves.

"After this weekend we will know who and where we are playing and we can start to focus on that, but before then we have to go to North Queensland and do everything we can to get the points.

"It's an important game for us for many reasons and we will be approaching it as if it's the first of our finals games."
