Glory crashed to a 1-0 defeat at Central Coast Mariners which now leaves them almost certainly out of top four contention.

Mitchell said: "It was a great goal that beat us.

"We"ve got some good young boys coming through so there' s plenty of positives to take out of the season so far.

"So from now until the end of the season, depending on the results in other games obviously, we’ll have a look at them (the youngsters).

"I think defensively we did really well today as a unit, the first 20 minutes they came out and put us under a lot of pressure then we got a grip of the game and were dangerous.

“We’ve just run out of games which is disappointing because I think because the way we’ve been playing we would have been a threat. If we had sorted ourselves out earlier we’d still be in it but it’s not to be."

Mitchell made a tactical substitution on 62 minutes with Adrian Trinidad replacing Rukavytsya and the Argentinian did add some flair with both his feet and new blonde hairstyle.

Unfortunately for Perth Trinidad had only been on the pitch for a few minutes before falling awkwardly and rolling his ankle. He continued to run out the match but his influence was clearly hampered by the injury that required treatment following the final whistle.

“I thought the longer we stayed in the game we could pinch one and I put Trinidad up there with his box of tricks but everything we tried today just backfired, he came on and rolled his ankle straight away.

“That knocked him out of the game and we had to wait to see if we could make a change because it was really hurting him," said Mitchell.
