DAVE Mitchell says his players must develop a meaner streak on home soil this season and learn to deliver the knockout blow.
The Perth Glory coach felt his side had paid the price last year for failing to turn possession into chances and chances into goals at Members Equity Stadium.
Now he is demanding that Glory produce more killer finishes in order to avoid stalemates and being punished at the death.
Glory started last season with three successive goalless draws, two at home, and they were quickly cast adrift at the bottom of the table.
Mitchell wants his side to maintain their defensive shape but have the courage to push for a winner in tight games this year.
Mitchell told au.fourfourtwo.com: "You're almost better going for a win at home and we let ourselves down last year by dominating teams at home but not capitalising and not scoring.
"I think that began to change a little bit towards the end of last season though and I'll be looking for us to continue that this year.
"You have to score goals to win games. You have to threaten the opposition and I think last year we didn't do that, despite all the possession."
