Queensland Roar has confirmed Craig Moore will not be joining the club.
Moore, who has been released from Newcastle United in England, has been widely tipped to join Frank Farina's men for the next season of the A-League but negotiations have broken down.
Earlier this month, the side also missed out on signing John Aloisi who is now currently weighing up other offers, including one from A-League rivals Sydney FC. Both Moore and Aloisi demanded too much money, according to the club.
“We have had discussions with Craig Moore’s agent over the last three or four days and unfortunately we have been unable to reach an agreement on his salary,” said Roar CEO Lawrence Oudendyk.
“Craig is a very good player and is still able to earn far more money overseas than he can earn in Australia. Regrettably that puts his services out of our reach.
Frank Farina said: “I made no secret of the fact that I wanted to sign Craig Moore for next season so naturally it is a bit disappointing for us.
“Unfortunately, we were not able to come up with what was required and as a coach I can only ask the question of the Board of Directors. I totally respect their decision and we move on, it’s as simple as that.
Roar have also expressed their commitment to sign a notable player ahead of the next A-League season saying they still have other options available to them.
